Professional Experience

Chris is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa with more than 15 years of experience in various aspects of corporate and commercial law. He completed his articles at Edward Nathan & Friedland Inc. in 1999 andworked as an associate in the corporate department of Edward Nathan until 2003 when he was made director of Edward Nathan, which in 2006, merged with SHG Inc to become ENS Inc. (now known as ENSafrica).Chris continued as a director in the corporate department at ENSafrica until March 2015 whereafter he joined Mchunu Attorneys.
Chris renders services in various aspects of corporate law, including, mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, corporate restructurings, Black Economic empowerment transactions, research and drafting of legal opinions and advising on other regulatory aspects of commercial transactions including, without limitation, the JSE Listing Requirements, takeover regulations and the Companies Act, including governance matters, the drafting of a company’s constitutive documents as well as the notices of meetings, minutes and board charters and the conduct of legal due diligence investigations. Chris’s experience includes the negotiation and drafting of transactional agreements such as shareholder’s agreements, sale of share agreements, voting pool agreements, sale of business agreements, joint venture agreements, prospectuses, circulars and scheme documentations.
Chris has acted for some of South Africa’s major institutions, such as listed mining companies, banks, municipalities, state-owned entities as well as a number of corporate and BEE companies and has advised these institutions in a number of major transactions.
